The Cape Town Honey Company Concerned About Bee Poisonings
6 March 2025:
We are deeply concerned about increasing bee poisonings during pollination activities. These incidents not only harm bee populations but threaten our ecosystem and honey production sustainability.
Many agricultural chemicals used in pollination are toxic to bees. When bees forage on treated crops, they can carry these toxins back to their hives, potentially causing colony collapse and reducing pollination effectiveness.
We urge farmers to adopt bee-friendly practices: using integrated pest management, avoiding harmful chemicals during blooms, and providing clean water sources. Together, we can protect our bees and ensure a sustainable future for honey production and agriculture.
